The New Hampshire Allstate Art Festival is a two day program for rigorously selected high school juniors held at the Currier Gallery of Art in Manchester, New Hampshire. April 2-3, 2004, 65 students were divided into five groups of about twelve. Each group, led by a pair of artist/mentors, had a day and a half of busy studio time to conceive, plan, and execute an installation artwork that transformed a studio at the Currier Gallery. This program provides talented young artists with the opportunity to meet and work with their peers and professional artists from around the region. The students work as a team, have creative control, use non-traditional materials, and create room-commanding artwork, all things probably outside of their regular art class experience.
