For the MBTA's new Silver Line World Trade Center Station in Boston
This sculpture is a dense flock of gulls evocative of those often seen outside in the Sea Port District. The flock will be made up of 57 birds, in four sizes with wingspans ranging from 3 feet to 12 feet. Half of the birds will have wings flapping up; the other half will have wings flapping down. Each bird will have wings painted one of six specified colors, and a body painted a corresponding lighter tint. The flock will be suspended from the ceiling of the Mezzanine level with stainless steel cable. Air currents will cause the birds to gently rotate, making the entire flock wonderfully chaotic and dynamic.
