Dave Blumenthal: I grew up section hiking the AT with my family and was enthralled with the thru hikers I met, and ever since reading "The High Adventure of Eric Ryback" as a teenager, the PCT has had a place in my dreams. In 2000 I hiked the Long Trail solo, kept a sketchbook, and wished that it didn't have to end. The PCT has been on our "refrigerator list" for years, and now we're doing something about it. When not hiking, I do freelance product design, furniture design, architectural modelmaking, illustration, and teach art and design classes.
Lexi Shear: I grew up having never hiked or spent a night outside. A month long trip in Alaska when I was 20 changed me forever, and I have never looked back. Since then, I cannot get enough of being outside - in my "leisure time" climbing and hiking all over the country, and in my "professional" life as and ecologist, teacher and wilderness trip leader. Traveling on my own two feet over mountains and through forests for many months is a dream I have had for ten years, a dream whose time has finally come.
